Required Experience

  • Minimum 12 years of experience in finance operations, finance transformation, shared services, or global business services environments.

 

  • At least 7 years of experience working with finance shared services, offshore delivery teams, or global finance operating models.

 

  • Strong working knowledge of finance processes, including general accounting, general ledger, month end close, reconciliations, accounts payable, expense management, billing, collections, or cash application.

 

  • Demonstrated experience improving service quality, governance, stakeholder engagement, process discipline, and operational maturity in a shared services environment.

 

  • Experience leading or supporting finance process transitions, shared services stabilization, process improvement, or operating model improvement initiatives.

 

  • Proven ability to work with senior finance stakeholders and business leaders to understand concerns, build trust, and drive alignment.

 

  • Strong ability to assess complex operational issues, identify root causes, and recommend practical solutions.

 

  • Experience developing process documentation, governance routines, performance reporting, quality checks, issue management processes, and stakeholder communication practices.

 

  • Ability to operate independently, structure work effectively, engage stakeholders proactively, and drive progress without requiring significant oversight.

 

  • Strong communication, facilitation, stakeholder management, analytical, and problem solving skills.

 

Preferred Experience

Experience working in an SAP finance environment, with the ability to understand how finance processes are executed, controlled, and reported through SAP.
Prior consulting experience in finance transformation, shared services advisory, GBS transformation, or finance operating model improvement.
Experience supporting finance shared services stabilization after transition or migration of work.
Experience working across multiple geographies, preferably including India, Eastern Europe, or other offshore shared services locations.
Experience in a professional services, insurance, claims management, or global services environment.
Experience improving month end close, reconciliations, journal entries, intercompany processes, AP operations, expense management, billing, collections, or cash application.

Key Responsibilities

Assess the current state of finance shared services operations across India and Bulgaria, with a focus on general accounting, general ledger, and related finance processes.
Work closely with finance stakeholders, shared services teams, and business leaders to understand pain points, clarify expectations, and identify practical improvement opportunities.
Review existing transition practices and identify gaps in knowledge transfer, process documentation, training, ownership, controls, governance, and service expectations.
Support the development of stronger shared services practices, including clear roles and responsibilities, process ownership, communication routines, escalation paths, quality checks, and performance reporting.
Help improve stakeholder confidence in shared services delivery by increasing transparency, strengthening communication, and improving alignment between onshore stakeholders and offshore teams.
Identify root causes of recurring issues and determine whether they are driven by process gaps, knowledge gaps, transition gaps, system issues, control gaps, stakeholder alignment issues, or capability gaps.
Recommend practical improvements to finance processes, especially within general accounting, general ledger, reconciliations, close activities, accounts payable, expense management, cash application, billing, and collections.
Establish tools, templates, governance routines, and management practices that can be sustained by the organization beyond the engagement.
Partner with stakeholders to define expectations for service quality, timeliness, accountability, issue resolution, and continuous improvement.
Operate independently in a complex environment, proactively identifying where support is needed and driving progress with limited day to day direction.

Practical recommendations to improve general accounting and related finance activities.
Stakeholder engagement approach to improve confidence in shared services delivery.
Implementation support for priority improvement actions.
